Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has claimed that the Reds are not afraid of Manchester City ahead of their trip to Eastlands this evening.

Henderson has also reported that confidence in the Liverpool camp is sky high after the side’s 3-1 victory over Newcastle United at Anfield on 30th December.

“I don’t think City are leagues ahead of the rest of us”, Henderson told Liverpool’s official site.

“Obviously they have some outstanding players and are a good team, but we have some outstanding players too”, added the former Sunderland man.

“We’ll go there looking to put up a good fight and get a good result.”

Henderson is also happy at the way Liverpool’s recent victory over Newcastle has boosted squad morale, with the Reds shaking off their goalscoring blues to score three times.

“Beating Newcastle has given us a massive boost. We’ll go into the game with confidence.

“We’ll take belief from how we did against them at Anfield. We know City are a good team, but so are we.

“We needed to be more clinical in front of goal and we did that against Newcastle.”
