Dutch defender Gregory van der Wiel’s agent has confirmed that negotiations between the player’s current club Ajax and Spanish giants Valencia have stalled.
Van der Wiel wants to join Los Che and has his heart set on moving to the Mestalla at the end of the season, but Ajax are holding out for the very best possible price for the Holland international full back.
The current state of affairs sees Valencia offering €10M for the 23-year-old, while Ajax are hoping for €12M.
Van der Wiel has been linked with a number of clubs in the past, including English outfit Chelsea, and Ajax could see more offers arrive for his services.
This though would be pointless according to the player’s agent, who has stressed his client wants to move to Valencia.
"Maybe Ajax are hoping that another club will make an offer", Hakim Slimani told Voetbal International, "but Gregory has already made his decision and wants to join Valencia.
"It would be good if this can be finalised shortly so Gregory can focus on Ajax again."
