Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has apologised for his conduct in the incident which saw the Uruguayan receive an eight-match ban from the English Football Association.
Suarez however has not said sorry to the player he was deemed to have hurled racist abuse at, Manchester United defender Patrice Evra.
"I admitted to the commission that I said a word in Spanish once and only once. I told the panel members that I will not use it again on a football pitch in England", said Suarez.
"I never, ever used this word in a derogatory way and if it offends anyone then I want to apologise for that."
Liverpool recently opted not to appeal against Suarez’ ban despite being vociferous in their support of their star striker.
As such the former Ajax man is now suspended but, in a twist of fate, is due to return in time to face Manchester United.
