Manchester United will bounce back from the disappointment of their 3-0 defeat away to Newcastle United, manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes.
The Red Devils clocked up their second defeat in five days after arriving at St. James’ Park off the back of a 3-2 surprise loss to Blackburn Rovers at Old Trafford.
The Magpies worked hard throughout, taking the lead through prolific Demba Ba before Yohan Cabaye added a second with a scorching free kick. And Manchester United misery was compounded when Phil Jones bundled in an own goal at the very death of the match, stooping to head a ball at waste height and directing it past the helpless Anders Lindegaard.
Ferguson however is not getting carried away and continues to keep the faith that Manchester City can be overhauled at the top of the Premier League, with the Citizens’ win over Liverpool on Tuesday ensuring they now hold a three-point lead.
"We have the experience to cope", said Ferguson.
"We need to get the show on the road.
"It’s not a time for panic. Losing a game at this time of year can sometimes happen", added the Scot, fingering the packed festive fixture list.
