FC Twente have appointed Steve McClaren as coach in succession to Co Adriaanse.

McClaren led the Tukkers to the Eredivisie title in 2010 before departing to manage Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg.

The Englishman’s time at the Volkswagen Arena was not a success however and he departed in 2011 privately commenting that he should never have left Twente.

Now McClaren is back in charge of the Dutch club and he is a popular appointment.

The former England coach has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal.
