Having already declared their intent to bid for Italy midfielder Daniele De Rossi if Roma are willing to consider offers for the player, English giants Manchester City may have to battle Paris Saint-Germain for the 28-year-old’s signature.
Citizens boss Roberto Mancini has been watching developments at Roma closely and admitted that, given any hint that a move for De Rossi would be successful, he would launch one.
The midfielder is locked in discussions with the Giallorossi over a contract which is due to run out next summer and, should no new deal be signed, the Italian side could easily take the view that it is better to realise at least some return for a player they nurtured and who has only ever appeared for Roma.
The Serie A giants continue to sound bullish over contract talks however and De Rossi’s agent has indicated that he believes "an agreement will be reached."
Italian newspaper La Stampa though have added Paris Saint-Germain to Manchester City as serious suitors for De Rossi if he becomes available.
PSG sporting director Leonardo is well aware of the all-action midfielder’s talents from his long spells in Italian football and the French outfit have the means to match any offer from Manchester City in terms of transfer fee and wages.
