Russian Premier League giants CSKA Moscow have won the race for highly rated Nigerian winger Ahmed Musa, beating the likes of Arsenal, Barcelona, Schalke and Udinese to the 19-year-old’s signature.
Musa had been turning out in Holland with Dutch outfit VVV-Venlo and made a positive impression on the Eredivisie, quickly leading to a cavalcade of scouts trooping through the turnstiles at De Koel.
CSKA Moscow enjoy a good relationship with VVV-Venlo, in part due to the transfer of Japanese schemer Keisuke Honda between the clubs in 2009.
And this was used to seal a deal for Musa, with the Russian giants paying €5M for his services.
"This is the next step in my career", said the Nigerian.
"18 months ago, when I arrived in Venlo, I had not really dreamed that I would have a transfer like this so soon.
"I’m happy that I got the chance at Venlo to show the world what I can do. Now I’m on a bigger stage."
