Manchester City are tracking Saint-Etienne’s defensive sensation Kurt Zouma.

The 17-year-old centre back has broken into Les Verts’ first team this season, and already turned heads with a series of accomplished displays that have belied his tender years in Ligue 1.

Zouma has attracted a number of scouts to the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard and Manchester City appear to have received glowing reports of his progress, given that Citizens boss Roberto Mancini is keen on the Frenchman.

Mancini has set his sights on taking the stopper, who impressed with France’s Under-17 team at the 2011 FIFA Under-17 World Cup, to Eastlands.

Any swoop is likely to wait until the end of the season however, with Saint-Etienne’s reluctance to sell Zouma midway through the season and Mancini’s need to offload a number of fringe players from the City squad, key factors.

Zouma has clocked up ten appearances in Ligue 1 this season and is under contract with Les Verts until 2014.
