Legendary Spanish striker Raul is hopeful over extending his contract at Schalke.
Raul has become a popular figure at the Ruhr giants and his current deal expires at the end of the season.
The 34-year-old has been linked with a number of clubs, including Blackburn Rovers, but the signs at present point to an extended stay in Gelsenkirchen.
"I am optimistic about the possibility of finding an agreement", said Raul.
"At the moment there is no reason why we shouldn’t keep on negotiating and I hope to keep playing for Schalke.
"I will be very happy if we can find an agreement."
