Roma star Bojan Krkic has stated his hope that Daniele De Rossi signs a new contract with the club.

Influential midfielder De Rossi is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and has not yet been able to find an agreement over a fresh deal with the Giallorossi.

De Rossi is an icon for Roma, having graduated from the club’s youth ranks and never represented another club side.

But the 28-year-old has attracted much interest from abroad, with Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini admitted he would bid for the player if he thought he would be successful, while Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United have all been linked.

Roma have remained confident that the Azzurri star will stay – and Krkic is also crossing his fingers.

"He is an important player for Roma too", said Krkic to Sky Sport, comparing De Rossi to legend Francesco Totti.

"I don’t know if he will stay here or if he will leave.

"I hope that he will stay for a long time."
