Red hot Newcastle United striker Demba Ba has admitted he would relish the opportunity to play for Paris Saint-Germain, but insisted it is unlikely to happen in the short term.

Ba has been prolific in front of goal for Alan Pardew’s men this season, leading to much speculation of bids and interest from elsewhere.

And this has only intensified of late with talk of a release clause in the striker’s contract which could be as low as £5M.

However, while a switch to a Champions League-chasing club in the Premier League may seem a natural fit for Ba, PSG would be perfectly placed to pick up the player given his admission.

"I have always supported PSG and it is a club that are tempting, but it would be difficult to do that in January", Ba told French radio station RMC, before claiming to be focused on the upcoming African Cup of Nations.

"My first goal is Senegal and getting a good result, then I want to continue performing well for Newcastle.

"I’m at Newcastle, the fans like me. And then the transfer market will be closed when I go back, so I am not focusing on it."
