Real Madrid have received an offer of €42M for winger Angel di Maria, according to Madrid-based daily Marca.
The offer has come from an unnamed club in the English Premier League, narrowing the likely field down to Chelsea, Manchester City or Manchester United.
While the amount is no doubt attractive to Los Blancos, the Spanish giants are unwilling to sell the Argentine schemer before the end of the current campaign, or else risk derailing what looks a potential La Liga-winning season.
Jose Mourinho has told the Real Madrid board that he wishes no players to arrive or depart the Bernabeu in the winter transfer window – and Di Maria is considered a key part of the Portuguese’s plans.
"I have not asked for any incoming transfers", said the Real Madrid boss.
"And I have been clear about the fact that I want no one to leave", added Mourinho.
Di Maria has clocked up 14 appearances in La Liga thus far this season, finding the back of the net four times.
There has been a sense in the Spanish capital that the former Benfica star is performing below his best, but the Argentine’s stock continues to remain high – and especially in the Premier League.
A transfer in the summer cannot be ruled out.
