Sir Alex Ferguson was honoured with the Presidential Award by FIFA at the organisation’s Ballon d’Or gala last night and instantly paid tribute to Manchester United.
The Scot received the accolade for services to football and revealed that he has enjoyed such success because the Red Devils have always shared his vision and motivation for the game.
Indeed, Ferguson took the award not just to be recognition of his own achievements, but the club’s too.
"This is very much appreciated", said the United boss.
"No matter the honour I get, I feel it’s recognition for 25 years of Manchester United.
"They always shared my vision and passion. I’ve been a very lucky manager.
"That makes Manchester United such a special club.
"The courage to play and the courage to try and win is more important than anything."
