AC Milan have identified Barcelona star Javier Mascherano as a possible summer reinforcement.
The Rossoneri are aware that there is little chance of the Catalans selling Mascherano in the current transfer window, but feel their stance may be somewhat different at the end of the season.
The 27-year-old has long been a target for some of Italy’s biggest clubs, with Juventus showing real interest last summer, while Inter have also been mooted at various points in the last 18 months.
But it is Milan who are seriously considering a swoop.
Mascherano continues to be rated highly by Barcelona, but has found cementing a regular first team spot in central midfield at the Camp Nou to be a difficult task.
The Argentine has made 11 appearances in La Liga this season however and also played in Barcelona’s Club World Cup victory in December.
