On-loan Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has admitted that he could stay with Atletico Madrid next season.
Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas snapped up the young Belgian shot-stopper in the summer, but instantly sent him on a season-long loan to Atletico Madrid in order for the 19-year-old to enjoy regular first team football to aid his development.
Courtois was signed by the Spanish giants to step into David de Gea’s shoes following the goalkeeper’s switch to Manchester United and has featured regularly at the Vicente Calderon.
And the Belgian is loving life in Madrid to such an extent that he would consider staying for a second season if Atletico made an approach and Chelsea consented to the move.
"If Atletico want to keep me, Chelsea will have to ask me the question [of whether I want to stay]", said the Belgian, before claiming that it is really a subject for another day.
"We are in January and it is too early to think about that."
But, Courtois confirmed: "I love Madrid and I like Atletico Madrid, its a very good club where I have many friends.
"To play here for a second year would be good for me."
