Manchester United have been confirmed as being amongst the sides interested in Newcastle United hotshot Demba Ba.

The Senegal hitman, who is currently away from the Magpies on African Cup of Nations duty, has been one of the sensations of the current Premier League season, with his goals powering Alan Pardew’s men up the table and placing the side in contention for a European spot.

Ba has netted 15 times in England’s top flight and it is little surprise that the the former West Ham striker has been put under the microscope by some of the country’s biggest clubs, including Chelsea and Liverpool, while there is interest from France too in the shape of Paris Saint-Germain.

Indeed, news of interest from elsewhere has reached Ba’s ears, with the striker claiming a switch to PSG would mean the fulfillment of a childhood dream.

But now Manchester United have been confirmed as having entered the race by the player’s representative.

"A lot of clubs are calling for Demba", said Armand Doorn to IBTimes UK.

"At this moment we are doing it [transfer talks] with his brother, before we did it alone and now we do it with his brother.

"Obviously he is doing very well at Newcastle, he’s not injured and a lot of clubs are showing interest, but there is nothing concrete at this moment.

"It is true Manchester United, it’s true, but nothing concrete."

And Doorn also confirmed the existence of a release clause in Ba’s contract.

"No manager called me and said, ‘Armand, can we sit down?’ and everybody is asking how much his release clause is, but nothing concrete.

"There is a clause, but it is not simple. Newcastle knew when they signed him that it was in his last [contract]."
