Anderlecht striker Matias Suarez has scooped the 2011 Golden Shoe.

The award is handed out to the player judged to be the best in Belgian football and the Argentine topped the poll due to a series of stunning displays and goalscoring feats with his club.

Suarez, who is the top scorer in the current Europa League, has attracted interest from English giants Arsenal and French powerhouses Marseille of late, with both clubs known to have had him watched.

Suarez finished above midfielder Axel Witsel and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in the Golden Shoe standings.

The runners-up were at a disadvantage however given that neither of them played in Belgium for more than half of 2011.

Goalkeeper Courtois moved to Chelsea from Genk over the summer – he is now on loan at Atletico Madrid – while Wistel swapped Standard Liege for Portuguese giants Benfica.
