Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson believes that bringing Paul Scholes out of retirement is the best move he could have made in the January transfer window.
The Old Trafford outfit have been rocked by a number of injuries in recent months which put pressure on Ferguson to enter the winter window and stock up on new players.
Ferguson though has been keeping his powder dry and instead chose to sweet-talk Scholes out of retirement after the 37-year-old had hung up his boots for a coaching role at United last summer.
And for Ferguson, convincing Scholes to play again is a no-brainer, as no one available on the market can match him for composure and passing talent.
"One or two people have been negative and making out it has been a ‘regressive step’," said the United boss.
"How can it be regressive?", Ferguson hit back.
"You’re getting a player for nothing who has been part of the club for 20-odd years.
"He’s not going to play every game, but in terms of composure and passing ability, is there a better playing going around? Definitely not."
