Liverpool’s continued lack of a cutting edge has been bemoaned by boss Kenny Dalglish after the Reds could only draw 0-0 at home to Stoke City.
A lack of creativity was evident, but the chances Liverpool did have they could not convert, leaving Dalglish looking at a sixth draw in the side’s last eight home games – not good enough for a side with aspirations of qualifying once again for the Champions League.
And while Dalglish accepts that Stoke arrived ready to try and leave with a point, he still believes his charges could have converted the chances on offer.
"They came here to go away with a point and they got a point", said the Liverpool manager.
"The responsibility was on us to be more imaginative to break them down, but we didn’t manage to do that.
"The couple of opportunities we did have we never took, and in a game like that you have got to take your opportunities.
"We looked pretty solid at the back and I think they had one shot in the first half and not much more after that, but as I said it was our responsibility to be able to break them down."
Dalglish however refused to criticise the players’ effort, which he believes was top notch.
"There was nothing wrong with the players’ effort or determination, but on the day we just weren’t good enough to break them down."
