Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has hinted that the club are close to snapping up Joao Carlos Teixeira from Sporting Lisbon.
The Portuguese starlet piqued the Reds’ interest in the NextGen series when his Sporting side visited Merseyside and left with a comfortable 3-0 win.
Teixeira is out of contract in the summer and Liverpool have, along with a whole host of other clubs, been trying to snare the midfielder.
Various reports have indicated that Liverpool are close to winning the race with a bid of around €1M having been accepted by Sporting and the player himself excited at the prospect of a switch to Anfield.
“There might be something in that, yes”, admitted Dalglish when questioned about talk Teixeira is ready to sign.
However, the Scot also indicated that he does not see the 19-year-old as a first team candidate just yet.
“He’s only a kid”, said Dalglish.
