Arsene Wenger has ordered his Arsenal defence to cut out the mistakes if they want to defeat Manchester United this weekend.

The Gunners meet Sir Alex Ferguson’s men on Sunday in what is a Premier League clash of huge importance for both sides.

And Wenger is crossing his fingers that a defence which made errors against Fulham and Swansea in the club’s last two Premier League games, both of which were lost, can change its ways against Manchester United.

"You will never find a happy manager after a defeat like that", said Wenger about Arsenal’s 3-2 loss at Swansea.

"What was worrying was that while we were 1-0 up we had chances to score the second goal and then we gave goals away", added the Frenchman.

"We thought we had stabilised the defensive sector, but we have been very vulnerable in recent games. When you come back to 2-2 and then 30 seconds later it is 3-2, it is very difficult to swallow."

And Wenger wants an improvement against Manchester United.

"I put Fulham down to the fact that on the corner we made a mistake. We made [mistakes] again at Swansea and it is important that we focus on defending well together.

"That is vital going into a game against Manchester United."
