Spanish side Levante have been offered the services of West Ham striker John Carew and Birmingham City hitman Nikola Zigic according to Valencia-based daily Superdeporte.

Levante were surprise La Liga table toppers early in the campaign, but have slipped off the pace in the last month and now face a battle to secure a Champions League spot.

Juan Ignacio Martinez’ side are on the lookout for options to boost their squad ahead of the second half of the season slug and the coach has been offered the chance to take Carew and Zigic.

Carew, who has played in Spain with Valencia, currently plies his trade in England’s second tier with West Ham, having joined the club as a free agent last August, following his release from Aston Villa.

The powerful Norwegian striker has struggled to hold down a regular first team spot at the Championship league-leaders however and has scored just twice.

Zigic meanwhile plays for Birmingham City, but like Carew has La Liga experience, with spells at Racing Santander and Valencia under his belt.

The 32-year-old joined Birmingham in the Premier League and suffered the pain of relegation with the Blues last season.

Levante lost their weekend clash against Getafe and though the Valencian club have not decided whether to pursue Carew or Zigic, the options will be interesting ones for coach Martinez.
