Sources in Italy have indicated that Roma are letting Chilean midfielder David Pizarro move to Manchester City.

Pizarro, who was also chased by Russian Premier League giants Zenit St. Petersburg, is expected to fly to England later today.

There he will speak to Roberto Mancini, who was also the 32-year-old’s coach at his former club Inter, and a loan until the end of the season will be sealed, barring any last minute hitches.

Pizarro has barely featured for the Giallorossi this season after falling out of favour with new coach Luis Enrique.

The Spaniard had confirmed long ago that the pass-master could leave the Italian capital if an acceptable offer arrived.

Pizarro will no doubt jump at the chance to join Mancini’s Premier League title chasers.

The development is a surprising one, with Zenit leading the race and City only an outside option yesterday.
