Portugal midfielder Raul Meireles has compared his national side with his club team Chelsea, explaining that the comparison makes him believe anything is possible at Euro 2012.
Chelsea had a turbulent season in the Premier League, ultimately finishing sixth and well adrift of the title challenge envisaged in pre-season, but the Blues did win the Champions League and FA Cup to mark a stunningly successful campaign.
Where Chelsea were not rated as serious contenders to win the Champions League, Portugal are not rated as serious players at Euro 2012, and were not expected to emerge from Group B with Holland, Germany and Denmark.
Portugal did get through though and now face the Czech Republic in the quarter-finals.
"I was a European champion with Chelsea when nobody made Chelsea favourites", said Meireles at a press conference.
"We when started, nobody put Portugal amongst the favourites.
"The best example for me is what I have lived through with Chelsea this year in the Champions League.
"If we can do the same, it would be a dream."
