Highly-rated Colombian striker Jackson Martinez has confirmed that he is ready to join Portuguese giants FC Porto, with only a few minor details remaining to be ironed out.
Martinez has been the subject of serious interest from English Premier League side Liverpool, with a transfer tug-of-war with Porto ongoing. Now though, it is the Portuguese outfit who are preparing to welcome the 25-year-old to the Estadio do Dragao.
“Only small details remain to be completed”, Martinez told Portuguese daily O Jogo.
“I understand that this comes down to details in the negotiations between both clubs, but an agreement is not quite there yet.
“These small details should be ironed out smoothly, but I know my role.
“It is likely that I am departing for FC Porto and I hope to soon say definitively, I’m ready.
“Hopefully everything is fine. I would love to play for Porto, where I think I can develop properly.”
Martinez is currently under contract with Mexican side Jaguares.
The forward has earned 13 caps for Colombia, scoring an impressive five times at international level.
