Legendary Brazil striker Romario has revealed that his son will move to Barcelona this summer.
The former World Cup winner’s son, known as Romarinho, currently turns out for Brazilian outfit Vasco da Gama. However, the 18-year-old’s contract is coming to an end and he is a free agent.
And continuing his footballing education at the Camp Nou is a tempting prospect which Romarinho is keen to take the opportunity to do.
"Next year my son will play at Barcelona", Romario told French daily L’Equipe.
"I’ve always been an admirer of Barca. I have many friends there", continued the former striker, who played for the Blaugrana between 1993 and 1995.
"We’ll see if he can stay in Spain for six months or a year. In any case, he will start with Barcelona B, but I don’t see why he can’t play with the great Lionel Messi in the future.
"I hope someday he’ll play for this special club."
Romarinho has a huge task in front of him to equal the feats of his father. Romario represented the likes of PSV Eindhoven, Flamengo, Valencia and Vasco da Gama, amongst others, as well as lighting up the Camp Nou.
He also clocked up 70 caps for Brazil, scoring an impressive 55 goals and helping the Selecao to win the 1989 and 1997 Copa America and the 1994 World Cup.
