Lille have completed the signing of attacking midfielder Marvin Martin from Sochaux.

Rudi Garcia’s men had identified the 24-year-old as a replacement of sorts for Eden Hazard, who was sold to Chelsea for €40M recently.

Lille are using €10M of that amount to sign France international Martin and have pushed the deal through in order to ensure the schemer will be available to play in the club’s Champions League playoff round.

Martin has inked a five-year contract with the northern France club and instantly expressed his delighted at having done so.

"The whole project at Lille persuaded me", said Martin.

"The infrastructure is beautiful. I’ve watched closely the building of the Grande Stade Lille: this place will attract a lot of people for sure.

"There is also my ambition of playing in the Champions League. I can’t wait because I have not had a chance to play in this competition."
