Fiorentina are interested in Manchester City striker John Guidetti, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Guidetti spent last season on loan at Feyenoord and scored an impressive 20 goals in 23 Eredivisie games; the forward was also set for a big summer at Euro 2012 with Sweden, but saw injury ruin his hopes of travelling to Poland/Ukraine.

At club level his future is unclear, with Feyenoord out of the running to enjoy Guidetti’s services again next season, while the goal-getter has also told Inside Futbol that he wants to play for a club where he will be handed the number 9 or 10 shirt and given a a first team role.

It looks unlikely that desire can be met at Manchester City, where Roberto Mancini has Carlos Tevez, Edin Dzeko, Sergio Aguero and Mario Balotelli to call upon.

A move to Italy could then suit Guidetti and Fiorentina are watching his situation at the Citizens with great interest.

La Viola want to sign a goalscorer for the 2012/13 Serie A campaign and feel Guidetti may fit the bill.

Fiorentina finished 13th in Serie A last season, well short of expectations.

The Italian outfit have already appointed Vincenzo Montella as coach as they look for a much improved performance.
