Mathieu Flamini could be poised to have a change of heart and accept AC Milan’s offer of a new contract, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Frenchman is out of contract with the Rossoneri at the end of this month and has been asked to take a pay cut of more than 50% in order to stay with the club.
Flamini, who missed nearly the whole of last season through injury, making just two appearances in Serie A, has been cold on the prospect of his salary dropping so far, and rejected Milan’s proposal.
It remained on the table though and, with Mark van Bommel, Clarence Seedorf and Gennaro Gattuso all leaving the San Siro, Milan have kept the offer to Flamini open as they have a chronic shortage of midfielders.
Now Flamini may complete a remarkable U-turn and accept Milan’s proposal.
The 28-year-old is thought to have had offers from elsewhere, with one such enquiry arriving from fellow Serie A outfit Roma.
