Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud has ruled out bringing Marouane Chamakh back to the Stade Chaban Delmas this summer.
Chamakh’s future at Arsenal, the club he joined from Bordeaux in 2010, looks in some doubt given the Gunners’ aggressive recruitment of attacking talent of late.
Arsene Wenger has already tempted Lukas Podolski to the Emirates, while Olivier Giroud is expected to seal a switch to Arsenal from Montpellier on Thursday.
Bordeaux were keen on signing Chamakh in the January transfer window, but their pleas fell on deaf ears, and president Triaud has insisted he sees no chance that the Moroccan hitman will land this summer.
“It is not worth making things up. I tried to contact him six months ago when the transfer window was open”, the Bordeaux supremo told Sport 10.
“Since I crossed paths with him at the Parc des Princes, he was able to tell me he was very happy in London, loved Arsenal and was fine where he was.
“We’re talking about things [a move for Chamakh to Bordeaux, ed.] which do not exist.”
It is however difficult to see how Chamakh will enjoy regular playing time at Arsenal next season. Indeed, the Moroccan played just 11 times in the Premier League last year.
A move then, if not to Bordeaux, may still be in the offing.
