In-demand striker Radamel Falcao will not be leaving Atletico Madrid this summer, according to the Spanish side’s sporting director Jose Luis Caminero.
Falcao enjoyed a superb first season in La Liga with Atletico after the side snapped him up from FC Porto last year.
The Colombian netted 24 goals in 34 games and would have gained even more plaudits had Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi not dominated La Liga’s scoring charts.
Nevertheless, Falcao’s feats did not go unnoticed and he has been linked with moves to several clubs including, of late, Barcelona and Chelsea.
But last season’s Europa League winners do not want to part with the goalscorer and Atletico’s sporting director has ruled out Falcao’s exit.
"There is one thing that is very clear: Falcao is at Atletico Madrid. He will not go", Caminero told AS.
"He remains with us for next season. It is not our intention to part with him."
Atletico agreed to pay Porto a fee of around €40M for Falcao, though some of that amount is outstanding and due to be paid this summer.
