Bayern Munich could propose to allow Arjen Robben to join Manchester City if the Citizens let Edin Dzeko land at the Allianz Arena.
According to German daily Bild, the Bavarians continue to be interested in signing Dzeko from Roberto Mancini’s men and firmly believe the Bosnian forward is open to the idea of a return to the Bundesliga.
Dzeko played in Germany for Wolfsburg from 2007 until January 2011, when he joined Manchester City for €32M.
The 26-year-old was lethal in the Bundesliga, a fact Bayern Munich have not forgotten as they launch a summer recruitment drive they hope will help coach Jupp Heynckes topple Borussia Dortmund at the top of next season’s standings.
While Mancini is thought reluctant to part with Dzeko, the Bavarians are now willing to make the deal sweeter by allowing Dutch winger Robben to head the opposite way.
Robben’s future at the Allianz Arena is unclear after he endured a miserable season.
The Dutchman suffered the pain of losing in both the German Cup final and Champions League final, while he also crashed out in the group stage of Euro 2012 with Holland.
It has been widely mooted that the former Chelsea player will take any proposal for a change of scenery seriously.
