Barcelona have announced that they have agreed a fee with Valencia for the transfer of left back Jordi Alba to the Camp Nou.

The Catalan giants have been attempting to sign Alba for some time, but the switch was held up by the need to thrash out a deal with Los Che.

Now an accord has been struck, with Valencia agreeing to sell the 23-year-old to Barcelona for €14M.

Alba has signed a five-year contract with the Blaugrana and will undergo a medical at the Camp Nou when he returns from international duty with Spain at Euro 2012.

The Spaniard becomes new Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova’s first signing as he looks to reinforce his squad.

Alba began his career in the youth ranks at Barcelona, before the club released him in 2005.

He went on to play for UE Cornelia before being picked up by Valencia for just €6,000.
