UEFA are taking the UEFA Super Cup away from its regular venue of Monaco.

The season-opening showpiece, which pits the winners of last season’s Champions League against the Europa League champions, traditionally takes place at Monaco’s Stade Louis II.

But now European football’s governing body have opted to change that arrangement.

While this summer sees the Stade Louis II host Chelsea vs Atletico Madrid, in 2013 the match will be played in Prague.

In 2014, the showpiece will be played in Cardiff, while 2015 sees it taken to Tbilisi, in Georgia.

Monaco were taken over by Russian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev last season and losing the UEFA Super Cup will no doubt be a blow to the city, if not the club.
