Chelsea are a serious option for flying Brazilian full back Maicon, according to Sky Italia.
Maicon is edging closer to the exit door at the Nerazzurri after talks over a new contract were shelved with no specific conclusion – the 30-year-old’s present deal at Inter expires next summer.
The Brazilian has been quick to attract interest, with Paris Saint-Germain mooted as serious suitors.
But it is Chelsea who have quickly emerged as the leaders in the chase for the full back’s signature.
The European Champions are on the lookout for a new full back and are known to rate Maicon’s defensive attributes, combined with his willingness to mount attacking raids down the flanks.
Talks are reported as being under way between the Brazilian’s representatives and the Blues, with finding common ground the target.
Inter recently agreed to terminate Lucio’s contract at the San Siro and offloading Maicon would further trim the Nerazzurri’s wage bill.
The Italian giants have bid for Lille right back Mathieu Debuchy in the clearest sign yet that Maicon is on the way out.
