Chelsea duo Fernando Torres and Juan Mata joined an elite group by winning the European Championship with Spain last night.
The two Spaniards become part of a select band of players who have managed the feat of winning the Champions League and the European Championship in the same season.
For Spain, Luis Suarez, who won the European Cup with Real Madrid in 1964 and then the European Championship, heads the group.
While five Dutchmen are in the club: Hans van Breukelen, Ronald Koeman, Barry van Aerle, Wim Kieft and Gerald Vaneberg.
And the membership is completed by Frenchmen Nicolas Anelka and Christian Karembeu, who picked up both the European Cup and the European Championship in 2000.
Both Torres and Mata scored in Spain’s 4-0 thrashing of Italy in the Euro 2012 final.
