Despite having just won Euro 2012, Spain’s third major international finals victory in a row, the country’s midfield talisman Xavi already has one eye on the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The 32-year-old’s hunger for glory appears insatiable, and not even Euro 2008, the 2010 World Cup and now Euro 2012, have sated his appetite.
Xavi, who will be 34 by the time the 2014 World Cup rolls around, making that likely to be his last international tournament, was of course delighted with Spain’s 4-0 win over Italy in last night’s final.
"We are very happy. This brings great joy to the country", said the midfielder.
"We were superior to Italy and we had a great game, probably the best game of the Euros."
The Barcelona man though could not resist a sneaky look forward.
"I must talk with the coach but, all things being normal, I will be at the World Cup in Brazil."
