Tottenham Hotspur have named Andre Villas-Boas as their new manager.

Villas-Boas has been a free agent since being sacked by Chelsea earlier this year and succeeds Harry Redknapp at White Hart Lane.

The Portuguese has inked a three-year deal with Spurs.

The 34-year-old, who has never played professional football, enjoyed a stellar spell in charge of FC Porto, picking up the Portuguese league, Portuguese cup and Europa League before joining Chelsea.

He did not last a year at Stamford Bridge though and was dumped in March amid talk of a dressing room rift with the club’s senior players.

Villas-Boas’ successor, Roberto Di Matteo, went on to lead Chelsea to the Champions League and FA Cup.

The young coach will now bid to rebuild his reputation with Spurs, who will expect him to return the club to the Champions League.
