Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has rebuffed an approach by the French Football Federation to hold talks over the vacant France job.
According to French sports daily L’Equipe, the FFF contacted Wenger, but were quickly told by the former Monaco coach that he has no interest in succeeding Laurent Blanc.
Les Bleus parted company with Blanc at the weekend after opting not to renew his contract.
This was despite Blanc meeting the pre-Euro 2012 target of a quarter-finals place; the FFF were unhappy at the manner of France’s defeat to Spain at that stage.
Blanc had long been believed to enjoy an uneasy relationship with FFF supremo Noel Le Graet, and while his departure was not a surprise, its speed was.
The FFF are already thought to have had an approach for Didier Deschamps meet with a cool reception and now a snub from Wenger will force Le Graet to work hard to persuade the former Marseille boss to lead France to the 2014 World Cup.
