Highly-rated midfielder Paul Pogba has left Manchester United to join Italian champions Juventus.

Pogba’s contract at Old Trafford expired this summer and, although Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson made hopeful noises about keeping the 19-year-old throughout last season, as the clock ticked down on his deal, a departure was expected.

Now Ferguson has confirmed that the Frenchman has made the leap to Italy, insisting the move has been sealed for some time.

"Pogba signed for Juventus a long time ago as far as we’re aware", Ferguson told MUTV, adding: "Which is disappointing."

And the legendary manager fired a parting blast at Pogba.

"I don’t think he showed us any respect at all so, to be honest, I’m quite happy."

Pogba joined Manchester United’s youth set-up in 2009, moving from French side Le Havre.

He made seven appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils last season.
