France Football Federation president Noel Le Graet is confident that one day Zinedine Zidane can coach the French national team – but not today.

Le Graet is leading an exhaustive search for Les Bleus’ next coach after Laurent Blanc’s contract was not renewed after Euro 2012.

Didier Deschamps, who has just parted company with Marseille, has been installed as the front-runner for the post, while Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has rebuffed initial efforts to speak with him about the vacancy.

It had been suggested in some quarters that Zidane, who is currently director of football at Real Madrid, could step forward and answer Le Graet’s calls and fulfill an ambition of his own at the same time.

But the FFF supremo sees Zidane more as a candidate for ten years in the future, rather than now.

"It is fantastic that Zidane has indicated that in the future he would like to work with the France national team", said Le Graet.

"And if not possible now, then he dreams of being coach in ten years’ time."

Le Graet also gave his blessing to where Zidane is learning his trade – at the Bernabeu.

"That’s not a bad school.

"And he wants to get his qualifications."
