Paris Saint-Germain coach Carlo Ancelotti has denied that John Terry is on his shortlist of central defenders.
Ancelotti is on the lookout for another centre back this summer and it had been speculated within France that Terry, with whom the Italian worked at Chelsea, was a serious option for the Parc des Princes outfit.
Thiago Silva was the club’s first choice option, but PSG dropped their interest in the Brazilian after AC Milan demanded €65M for the defender.
And while Ancelotti rates Terry highly, the Englishman is not, he insists, on his shortlist of names to address the need for a new centre back.
“We are looking for a central defender. The club are in talks with several players”, admitted Ancelotti.
“But not John Terry”, he added.
The former AC Milan boss also confirmed that for PSG only the very best will do next season, with Ligue 1 and the Champions League afforded equal billing in the French capital.
“This year we absolutely want to be champions”, said Ancelotti.
“There is the Champions League too, which is just as important as Ligue 1. But I think winning the league will be easier.”
