Despite having their initial attempts to speak with Didier Deschamps over the France job rebuffed, the country’s football federation have not given up on the former Marseille man.
And Deschamps is considering his position, with federation president Noel Le Graet wanting an answer as soon as possible – the former Chelsea midfielder is expected to give his final answer by Sunday.
Now, in order to paint a complete picture of what life with Les Bleus would be like, Deschamps is speaking to his old friend Laurent Blanc, who departed the post this summer.
Deschamps is thought to be unhappy with the way Blanc was bundled out of his post, and especially what was believed to be a poor working relationship with Le Graet.
At present the former Marseille coach is planning to take a year out of the game to recharge his batteries, but it is still possible a U-turn could be performed.
Deschamps enjoyed a mixed season at the Stade Velodrome last year, with an extremely disappointing Ligue 1 campaign balanced out by making the quarter-finals of the Champions League and also winning the Coupe de la Ligue.
