French team Paris Saint-Germain are very close to snapping up Italian wonderkid Marco Verratti from Serie A club Pescara after a transfer fee was agreed for the player between the clubs.

The decision lies with the Italian Under-21 international now as he has more than one offer on the table to consider with Juventus being the other major option.

Pescara and PSG agreed over the fee for the young Italian after Delfini’s sporting director Danielle Delli Carri and Verratti’s agent Donati Di Campli met with Les Parisiens sporting director Leonardo.

The amount to be paid is reportedly €14M which includes bonuses of €2M. Moreover, the meeting of the young Italian’s agent with PSG’s sporting director was fruitful as well and it is believed that PSG have tabled a five-year deal to the 19-year-old Italian starlet. Verratti may earn €1.5M per year if he signs on the dotted line for the Ligue 1 giants.

The gifted playmaker started his career with Pescara in 2008 and has appeared in 74 games for the club netting two goals in the process. The young midfielder has been lauded as the next ‘Andrea Pirlo’ after putting in impressive performances as a defensive playmaker. Verratti was the key to Pescara’s success in 2011/12 season as he steered the team back into Serie A.

The Italian has two choices in his hand. He can either choose to remain in Italy and sign for the reigning Serie A champions or he can move to France and represent Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1.

It remains to be seen whether the midfielder chooses the Old Lady or the Paris-based club, but PSG’s chances of snapping up Verratti are high as Juventus are likely to ask him return to Pescara for the 2012/13 season on loan. PSG meanwhile would induct the midfielder directly into their first-team squad.
