Marcelo Bielsa has resigned suddenly as the coach of Athletic Bilbao.
The Argentine boss, who won much praise for his work with the Basque side last season, was involved in an altercation with a member of staff at Athletic’s training base.
Athletic criticised Bielsa’s behaviour and attitude towards the employee, sending the former Chile coach into a rage.
And shortly after, Biela’s resignation was handed in.
Bielsa had earlier expressed his disappointment at the pace at which work on the club’s training base was proceeding.
This too angered Athletic, who gave the Argentine a slap on the wrist for airing his concerns in public.
Bielsa led Athletic to the Europa League and Copa del Rey finals last season, but his side came up just short in both.
