Jan Vertonghen is close to finally making the move from Ajax to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Belgian defender has just one year left to run on his contract at the Amsterdam ArenA and Ajax have already agreed a fee with Spurs for the 25-year-old.
However, the transfer has been held up by Vertonghen’s claim to 15% of the fee, an amount Ajax believed only applied to a sale figure in excess of €20M.
The defender’s sports management company have been working overtime to try and find some common ground with Frank de Boer’s men.
A meeting was held on Friday, but no solution was agreed upon, but now a further meeting looks to have achieved a breakthrough.
Vertonghen is now extremely close to completing his move to Tottenham Hotspur.
For the player, sealing a switch to White Hart Lane will come as a relief, especially as he was prepared to sit out the final year of his contract at Ajax.
The Belgian defender has long wanted to play in the English Premier League and he is very close to getting his wish.
