Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen have confirmed that they are looking at the possibility of snapping up Dutch winger Eljero Elia.

The 25-year-old joined the Bianconeri from Hamburg last summer, but has struggled to make an impression in Italy and had hardly any playing time under coach Antonio Conte in 2011/12.

Juventus want to sell Elia, but Werder Bremen are believed to favour a season-long loan with the option to buy at the end of the campaign.

And Werder have now confirmed officially that they are chasing Elia.

"We are investigating the possibility of Elia coming to Werder", said the German club’s sporting director Klaus Allofs.

Elia has had Bundesliga experience with Hamburg and is desperate to relaunch his career.

Doing so in familiar surrounds would surely appeal to the Dutchman.
