Roma are prepared to sell Fabio Borini to Liverpool after the club’s coach Zdenek Zeman expressed his willingness to allow the striker to leave.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, new Giallorossi boss Zeman is not displeased at the prospect of losing Borini’s qualities and will happily make do without the 21-year-old for the new season.

It is now up to Liverpool to close the deal, with Roma demanding a minimum of €14M to €15M in order to sell the former Parma player.

For Liverpool, such a sum should not present a problem, especially given new manager Brendan Rodgers’ preference for Borini.

The striker, who has won one senior cap for Italy at international level, made 24 appearances in Serie A last season, finding the back of the net nine times.

Borini has experience of English football, having turned out for Rodgers’ former club Swansea City on loan in 2011. He was also on the books at Chelsea between 2009 and 2011 before heading back to Italy with Parma.

Roma hold all the cards with regard to the player’s eventual sale as Borini is under contract with the Giallorossi until 2016.
