Recently appointed manager of Tottenham Hotspur, Andre Villas-Boas believes that he is a better coach now than when managing Chelsea.

The Portuguese did not have a successful stint with the Stamford Bridge outfit and was sacked by Roman Abramovich midway through the season, despite only having been appointed in the summer of 2011.

The major reason for the sacking of the manager was his inability to handle the senior players in the squad, which led to the team performing poorly in all competitions.

However, the former FC Porto boss is sure that he has learnt from his stint at Chelsea and that he is now an improved manager.

“The experience was extremely gratifying, not professionally in terms of success, but it was an experience that made me a better coach now than I was at Chelsea”, remarked the young Portuguese manager in a press conference.

The 34-year-old also added: “I think I’m a much better professional now than I was before.”

With regards to questions about whether the former Chelsea manager has something to prove to Blues owner Roman Abramovich, Villas-Boas was clear. “You can never use the fact that things went wrong before to prove a point.”

The 34-year-old also stated his desire to do well with Spurs and to help the team regain their spot in the Champions League for the 2013/14 campaign.

It remains to be seen whether the young manager can regain the vigour which brought him success at Porto and whether he has actually learnt from his mistakes at Chelsea.
