Tottenham Hotspur have agreed an undisclosed fee with Manchester City for striker Emmanuel Adebayor, according to multiple sources.
The hitman spent last season on loan at White Hart Lane and produced a series of impressive performances throughout the campaign.
Spurs have been keen to keep the former Arsenal forward, who found the back of the net 18 times in the previous season, while Manchester City want to offload Adebayor from their wage bill.
Shedding the 28-year-old’s wages will allow Roberto Mancini’s men further freedom in the transfer market, with a swoop for Arsenal’s wantaway forward Robin van Persie having been heavily mooted.
Adebayor will become Spurs’ third summer signing after Gylfi Sigurdsson and Jan Vertonghen.
The development will please Tottenham’s manager Andre Villas-Boas, who had indicated a desire to keep the striker.
